If you had asked me, before the trip, what came to my mind when I think of the word “India”, the answers you’d get would likely include: HOT, curry and LOTS of people. Ask me now and I would tell you instead that I think of the cold, masala and lots of love from the few people we did come into contact with during the trip my sister, her boyfriend and I went on during the December vacation.
Natalie Sutton is a junior Business Administration major from Chapel Hill, NC. In many healthcare establishments, little attention is paid to an area of medicine – preventive medicine. What exactly is preventive medicine? The wikipedia page states that preventive medicine refers to measures to prevent diseases, rather than curing them, and this would include public health methods.
One of the most intriguing questions, and I suspect that would be of interest to the political parties out there is what exactly goes through the mind of a voter when he is at the polling station filling in his voting slip.
When I was doing my National Service, I was told that certain vocations would be made obsolete and that they would be given to certain sub-contractors. Most of such operations are logistics-based, and they would be handled by civilian contractors. True enough, when I went back to my reservist training and caught up with my unit’s developments, I didn’t find it surprising that some of the vocations existed no more.
There are many life lessons that we can draw from Malcolm Gladwell’s essay “How David beats Goliath” published under the Annals of Innovation section at The New Yorker. Malcolm gave relevant examples of how underdogs triumphed over their adversaries when the odds were stacked over them.
