Disclaimer: Although this piece involves another church, which is associated with a promotional message for one of its events written in a blog, it is meant to highlight the coincidence of the message with the developments at AWARE. This shouldn’t be taken to mean that this church is also involved in the saga.
SINGAPORE – The EOGM was changed to Singapore Expo previously. Coincidentally, the Faith Community Baptist Church (FCBC) happens to be organizing the Transformation Conference 2009 this Saturday 2nd May 2009 at the Max Pavilion, Singapore Expo.
I was struck by the coincidence of the promotional message written in this blog.
From Argentina to Uganda, to the USA to the Philippines, ordinary people are testifying to real transformation taking place in real time. Their driving passion? Change the marketplace and you change the world! Come and be equipped by him at this dynamic conference with his biblical principles, contemporary stories, and practical handles, illustrating how we may cooperate with God to effectively catalyse Kingdom transformation in us, our families, our schools, our businesses, and in our nation. So get set for God’s agenda in transforming Singapore for His Kingdom!

The irony of it is that another potential transformation could be taking place at AWARE, and this time it may involve the comprehensive sexuality education programs in schools, if the new AWARE exco gets its way.
However, readers should not read too much into the FCBC part of this coincidence. Besides, the FCBC staff haven’t done what their peers at Church of Our Saviour (COOS) did in sending out emails to get their female members to vote at AWARE’s EOGM. It has maintained its separation from secular affairs, which is the proper decorum expected of religious institutions here in Singapore. And there is no reason for FCBC to subscribe to COOS’ agenda because both churches are independent of each other. FCBC’s focus is clearly more community service-based, due to its establishment of The Touch Community Services. Thus, as far as FCBC is concerned, the latter is an outsider with no involvement in the ongoing AWARE issue.
Now that the location of AWARE’s EOGM has been shifted to Suntec City’s Convention Centre, all the more readers shouldn’t worry.

It's very typical Christian-speak to say that you want to "transform" people. I think it doesn't refer specifically to AWARE.
