Why, good morning dear readers!

Welcome to 2015 and along with it, yet another bonanza of music, theatre and dance performances specially geared to entertain the listless, educate the curious and vex the indecisive.

As they do sometimes say (or at least, as Emile Zola once did say), “”The artist is nothing without the gift, but the gift is nothing without work.” What, indeed, have our intrepid artists in Singapore been working on lately?

The Kent Ridge Common is proud to present to you a compiled listing of music, theatre and dance events for 2015. Please do note that this list will be frequently updated for your benefit.

It’s been a bad year for outspoken and feisty Juliet – she’s fallen out with her friends and her relationship is on the rocks. To make things worse, one hot summer day, Juliet arrives at her apartment which she thinks she’s renting alone, only to find the strange Alex claiming the flat is his and is unwilling to move out. It doesn’t help that he’s pretty cute, and keeps her on her toes. A heated argument ensues leading to a hilarious turn of events.

Playing on a fresh and hilarious script, the delightful play is peppered with snappy banters that will put audience in stitches. As the story unfolds, Alex and Juliet soon find themselves falling madly in love, and eventually in a rut – the initial passion was soon replaced with disappointment and anger.  What will happen to their relationship? Will Alex and Juliet resolve their issues? Or will they give up and say their goodbyes? Catch this feel good rom-com – a guide to the perils and hazards of modern-day romance. After a sell-out run at the Hampstead Theatre in London, SRT is delighted to bring Hello Goodbye, the hottest romantic comedy of the year to Singapore.  Featuring a star cast including Shane Mardjuki (Shakespeare in the Park – Twelfth Night) and Denise Tan (Dim Sum Dollies).

Incarnation of the Beast by Joavien NG is a collaboration with nine performers who come from diverse backgrounds and body histories: Ali Anwar, Bjorn Lee Varella, Dana Lam, Deborah Emmanuel, Hamzah Alsagoff, Isaac Lim, Ivan Lim, Riley Huang and Tan Liting. Incarnation of the Beast is a visceral confrontation of one’s most intimate demons. Exploring the themes of obsession, ritual and tragedy, Joavien and the nine performers, emotes sympathy with pleasure, discomfort with inexplicable excitement.
