NUS Softball wins Double Champs at Kallang Open!

Over the weekend (22-23rd January 2011), our NUS Softball teams competed in the AIA-SBSA Kallang Softball Open (Tertiary) and both our men’s and women’s team came in champions!

Our Women’s Team captain Lim Sixian (Year 2, Arts) said, “We’ve fought hard and I’m really glad the team emerged victorious. We are really encouraged by the victory and I feel that this is a good start to our season with hopefully more successes to come.”

Our Men’s Team’ captain, Keefe  Tan (Year 3, Medicine) agreed, saying, “The team fought really hard during this competition. In the semi-finals against SMU, we came from 0-2 down to win 3-2 in the very last inning. We then ended it off with a convincing 9-2 win in the finals against Singapore Polytechnic. We are greatly encouraged by this wonderful showing and will continue to train hard for our next competition, the National League, of which we are the current defending champions.”

Sixian also added that the NUS Softball team had participated in the Chiang Mai Open in December 2010, which she thought had been crucial in helping the team to bond and the team had gelled really quickly considering how there had been players who had just joined them recently.

Below are photos from the competition and if you would like to see more, just click on this link.
